Dan Burton endorsed by US Chamber of Commerce

Dan earned the endorsement of the US Chamber of Commerce this week.  TBB scanned the letter in for y'all to see.  Just tilt your head a little to the right.  BTW, this adds the Chamber to Indiana Right to Life and the National Rifle Association.

Burton receives NRA Endorsement

US Congressman Dan Burton received the NRA endorsement this week.  Although we are very happy about the endorsement, it is no surprise to TBB.  Burton has been endorsed by the NRA multiple times because of his strong record of supporting the rights of gun owners.

A quote from the endorsement:

During your tenure in the House, you consistently supported the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen, demonstrating a strong commitment to the Second Amendment and our hunting heritage.  Based on your solidly pro-gun/pro-hunting voting record in Congress, as well as your responses to our federal candidate questionnaire, you have earned an "A" rating and endorsement from NRA-PVF.  We urge our members and all other gun owners and sportsmen in the fifth congressional district of Indiana to vote for your reelection to the US House of Representatives.

Great summary by Howard County Blogger

There was a great summary of the 5th district race by a Howard County Blogger.  He writes as Malott's Blog.

But we've seen so many men go to Washington and change. They talk like Hoosiers and Conservatives when they campaign, but all of a sudden in Washington they fall under the spell of the liberal media or Hollywood elites and they forget their promises.

My point is: Dan Burton has not.

In Washington he talks and votes the same way as he does on the campaign trail. He's been my Congressman for many years and he is yet to be "turned" by Washington.

Shall we reward him by turning him out? Shall we dump him because another attractive candidate - an unproven candidate - wants his job?

For me, this decision is a no-brainer. It's easy. Dan Burton has been loyal to us. We should be loyal to Dan.

Right to Life Enthusiastically Endorses Dan Burton

Indiana Right to Life has enthusiastically endorsed Dan Burton.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Right to Life and their Chairman Mike Fichter made an endorsement today for Congressman Dan Burton and his "tireless work to protect the unborn." Mike Fichter said, "Indiana Right to life makes tough decisions on endorsements every election; However, this decision was not difficult. Indiana Right to Life proudly and enthusiastically endorses Dan Burton for Congress."

Dan Burton has a 100% voting record with Indiana Right to Life. Congressman Burton has also been proactive on life issues, authoring and co- sponsoring countless bills in the U.S. House to advance the Pro-Life movement.

Congressman Burton also spoke thanking Indiana Right to life and their thousands of supporters across the state.

Burton added, "It is often said history judges societies on how they treat their most vulnerable. I believe there is wisdom in that sentiment, and it is for that reason I will work tirelessly to continue the fight for the unborn.

Burton added, "We have lost nearly 50 million babies since Roe V. Wade. Each Life is a precious gift from God. Unfortunately, we have folks in the political arena who are energized by this tragic failed Supreme Court decision and will fight tooth and nail to defend the horrible scourge of Abortion. Well, as long as Roe V. Wade and those who protect it stand, I will stand against them."

Americans for Better Immigration give Dan Burton an "A"

TBB received an email today from Numbers USA.  It highlights a Congressional rating from Americans for Better Immigration.  Americans for Better Immigration gave Dan Burton an "A" rating.

Numbers USA/ Americans for Better Immigration support common sense immigration reform focused on stronger border security and are against amnesty.

Dan Burton awarded "Spirit of Enterprise" award

The US Chamber has awarded Dan Burton with the Spirit of Enterprise award.

The United States Chamber of Commerce today presented Representative Dan Burton (R-IN-05) with its prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Award for his support of pro-growth legislation during the second session of the 110th Congress.

“Representative Burton has proven to be an effective ally to the business community, supporting legislation that helps grow the economy and creates new jobs for hardworking Americans,” said Tom Donohue, Chamber president and CEO. “The Chamber is grateful for Dan’s commitment to these important issues and is proud to present him with this award.”

The Chamber’s prestigious Sprit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key business votes outlined in its yearly publication How They Voted. Representative Burton compiled a 75% score with the Chamber last year and holds a cumulative 88% ranking during his tenure in Congress.

Dan Burton dubbed "Taxpayer's Best Friend"

The National Tapayer's Union has awarded Dan Burton with another Taxpayer's Best Friend award. 

Every year National Taxpayers Union (NTU) rates U.S. Representatives and Senators on their actual votes— every vote that significantly affects taxes, spending, debt, and regulatory burdens on consumers and taxpayers.

The Taxpayer Score measures the strength of support for reducing spending and regulation and opposing higher taxes. In general, a higher score is better because it means a Member of Congress voted to lessen or limit the burden on taxpayers.

Kokomo Tribune on Howard County Republican Endorsement

On Sunday, The Kokomo Tribune covered the Howard County Republican Party's endorsement of Congressman Dan Burton in their newsletter.

Always interesting reading, the Howard County Republican newsletter’s latest issue showed party support firmly behind incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Burton going into a contested May 6 primary with Indianapolis physician John McGoff.

The party’s central committee endorsed Burton in the newsletter, which featured cover pictures of Burton’s family and of the congressman meeting with former President Ronald Reagan aboard Air Force One.

The authors of the column couldn't resist sniping at former President Ronald Reagan, however.  We at TBB aren't sure if Bastide and Smith are trying to be funny or ironical.  They are neither.

Endorsement from Rep. Steve Buyer

TBB was present to see Congressmen Burton and Buyer in Johnson County on Sunday. Dan introduced Congressman Buyer, who rallied the crowd with an inspiring and motivational speech. He also recorded a nice endorsement of Dan. Check it out here.
