It's a hard shot of reality to admit our Colt's Super Bowl loss, even for our 5th District Congressman. But before yesterday's House vote to congratulate the Saint's on their win, Congressman Burton supported that if he could choose any team to beat us, it would be the Saints. ..He said it's bad enough his hometown Indianapolis Colts lost the game 31-17, but worse that they were done in by Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees, a graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and the 74-yard interception return for a touchdown by Indiana University product Tracy Porter.
"I just don't understand this, " Burton said. He said he kept thinking it was "unholy" for Brees to complete so many passes, a Super Bowl-record 32.
But Burton said he has mellowed a little since the big game and now believes that if any team was going to beat his Colts, "I'm glad it was the New Orleans Saints."
The congratulatory resolution, introduced by Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, R-New Orleans, and the entire Louisiana House delegation, is scheduled to be voted on today.
