Thank you, Congressman Burton for supporting those who volunteer to stand between us and the bad guys. The Navy Seals and all military personnel deserve our support and thanks. The charges against the Navy Seals are an act of terrorism against them and should be dropped.

JoeP

Ridiculous charges! Obviously the perp almost fell down the stairs and received the swollen lip as the SEALs caught him before further injury.

Charges like this could have ramifications thru all of law enforcement. One SEAL's weaker hand could inflict more subtle, undetectable damage, if punishment was the goal. Anchors Aweigh!!

Naomi

I just heard about this today. I stand with you Dan. How dare this government ruin the lives of these three service men over the statement of this monster. What he did to those security guards warrants more than a slap in the face!!! He was probable smarting off!

Ben

Well, I'll be the first to say that these service members are victims of Obama's "TOLERANCE, DIVERSITY & APPEASEMENT" agenda. FWIW, their prosecution will weaken the United States of America...

I speak as a retired Military Member and 100% Disabled American Veteran/Service Connected.

God Bless, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year

I want to go further than exonerating these three heroes. I want the prosecutors charged and their sad careers ruined. Senseless actions like this one are not faceless -- they are instigated by specific individuals who made decisions. I want those decisions to have consequences for those responsible. Let's start looking behind the faceless actions and identifying and, if possible, prosecuting, those responsible.

Thomas Junker

Its time to fight offensively, not just defensively. I want everyone connected with the prosecution of the three SEALs to be tainted by their connection. At the least I want to see their names in a Hall of Shame website. At best I want them to be prosecuted, their own useless careers ruined. Let's get moving. Who are the people responsible for the prosecution, all the way up and down the chain of command?

Phil Marsteller

What happened to Army leadership? It's time for the brass to stop being "ticket punchers" and do what is best for the troops.

Since when is punching a terrorist a crime (if they did it)? These men did what we needed them to do and now they are treated like this? It seems like we are back in the post Vietnam era under Carter.

The conduct of the officer who brought the charges needs to be looked into, what were his true motives? Was he looking out for the best interests of the US or for his own future?

It is time to stop tying our soldiers hands behind their backs and letting them get this war over with.

Don't bring dishonor on those of us who have served and those who are serving now by this disgraceful treatment of these seals. Make this right and dismiss the charges.

Joe Simmons

We all know that an accused has the right to face his accuser. We have the right to know who is accusing and contemplating prosecution of these brave and honorable men! This is absolutely ridiculous! Our nation and our men and women in uniform deserve better. I agree that those responsible for this atrocity of contemplating a Courts Martial are the ones that should be prosecuted. Expose these cowards!

Sstan

I am so grateful someone in Congress is going to bat for these heroes! To show the seals continued support, become a member of the fb group: 'Support The Navy Seals who Captured Ahmed Hashim Abed'
There are already 70,000+ members showing support.

2 Questions: How can we find out who authorized their prosecution? They should be on that "wall of shame"

And how can I get the addreses of the defense attorneys of the 3 brave SEALS to let them know how many Americans stand beside them. I'm so outraged I want to contribute to their defense costs.

C. Rowland

The prosecution of these Navy Seals is just outrageous. What is going on in this country? It is so disappointing to see these patriots being demonized by our own country. I will be following this story and will pass it on to anyone/everyone that I know.We must stop the nonsense that is going on in this wonderful country!!

cummalot47@yahoo.com

Our men risk their lives in that country,They all deserve medals for their dedication,Hard work trying to get the job done. They should not ever be tried for things that have to be done to protect themselves,or each other.Anything them people say or do are not only unbelievable but also brutal. Stand by our men ,support our troops, they brught it on,not us.Lets finish it.

As a 100% Disabled Veteran, who served during the Cold War in 2nd Cavalry patrolling the German Border, and with a Grandfather that served as an MP then as a Warrant Officer in the CID, and another that retired as CMO of Fort Leonard Wood, I feel that I need to state this,
There are rules to almost every action you take in the Military, to include the proper treatment of prisoners, IF you break the rules then there are punishments for such.
IF you LIE about breaking the rules there are harsher punishments and added charges.
Not only did these soldiers break the rules they lied about them.
The importance of our troops following rules are put in place for several reasons, to include maintaining order in the rank and file of the military and the expected treatment of our own soldiers by foreign militaries if our troops are prisoners. If we condone striking, beating, or other offenses to prisoners then we would and should expect the same treatment when it came to our troops.
We are all diplomats of the US when we are in the Service. WE are expected to behave in a manner that reflects well on our Military and our Nation.
I don't know the details of what took place (nor do any of you) but it is apparent that whatever actions were or were not used against the prisoner (despite his crimes) the soldiers lied about them, and that is what the prosecution is about.
These three troops were given a decision to accept a reprimand or to plead not guilty and go in front of a military tribunal. One of the troops decided to accept the reprimand and the other two decided on a trial.
No exactly what this has to do with our current administration or congress is beyond my comprehension, I have seen out cries in this forum about the loss of our civil liberties and so forth.
When an American puts on a Uniform of one our branches of service, we give up most of our civil and personal liberties to protect the same.
These troops have made a decision; Innocent or Guilty remains to be seen.
If I or any troops that I commanded were to break a Military Law then we would expect to a reprimand for it and thus so these troops are.
It matters not what crime the prisoner is guilty of, OUR men in uniform should and are expected to hold themselves to a higher standard. IF we don't then we will have soldiers doing whatever they want under whatever veil of patriotic fervor they choose and our Military would be nothing more than a disorganized militia.
I am sorry if my stance is not the popular one, but sometimes the correct stance isn't.
Karl
