U.S. Rep. Dan Burton, who represents communities with Chrysler and GM
plants in Marion and Kokomo, likened it [Obama's bailout plan] to another case of “socialism,”
on the House floor Monday evening, adding, “it has not worked in the
private sector as far as financial institutions are concerned. It has
not worked throughout the world when we have socialized medicine, and
now we see that the government is moving toward control over the
automobile industry.
